HIC-HLRN and its members in Cameroun (Collectif Inter-africain des Habitants--CIAH et Coalition des ONGs et des OCBs du Cameroun œuvrant dans le domaine des Etablissements Humains--CONGEH) have joined with other civil society organizations to present parallel reports to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) meeting at Geneva this week. They have formed a common position and expressed one voice in a set of recommendations to the Committee in its review of State Party Cameroon.
"A gender perspective has been completely absent from both the emergency response policies as well as the inadequate measures taken for reconstruction. The needs of Chilean women were overlooked in the aftermath of the disaster as well as in organizing the reconstruction."
