Report of the independent commission of inquiry on the 2014 Gaza Conflict

The
UN Commission of Inquiry has released its report on the human rights violations
in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories during last summer’s conflict.

The report contains the main findings and recommendations of the commission of inquiry
established pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution S-21/1. In the report,
the commission urges all actors to take immediate steps to ensure
accountability, including by guaranteeing the rights of all victims to an
effective remedy.

The Special Rapporteur had provided the Commission a submission on the effects
of this violence on the right to housing. Her reflections are found throughout
this final document: ow.ly/OEP5D

“the
destruction and damage brought about by the escalation of violence last summer
pose significant challenges to the enjoyment of the rights to an adequate
standard of living, housing, food, water, sanitation, health and education of
the population of Gaza.”
