The nationals of the European Union and Eastern Europe do not
need a visa to enter Tunisia for a stay of less or equal to 3 months. A valid
passport or an identity card, obtained less than 10 years before entering the
territory, together with an hotel reservation is enough.
If you are planning to stay more than 90 days in Tunisia but
less than 180, contact the nearest consulate.
Here is the list of the countries whose nationals do not need a
visa to enter Tunisia for a stay of less or equal to 3 months: Algeria,
Germany, Andorra, Antigua, Austria, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bermuda,
Bosnia, Brazil, Bandar Seri Begawan, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, South Korea,
Ivory Coast, Croatia, Danmark, Dominican Republic, Spain, The United States,
Fiji Islands, Finland, France, Gambia, Greece, Guinea, Honduras, Hongkong,
Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kiribati, Libya, Lichtenstein,
Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, The Republic of Maldives, Mali, Malta,
Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Monaco, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, The Netherlands,
Portugal, Qatar, Romania, United Kingdom, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia,
The Solomon Islands, Senegal, Serbia, Montenegro, The Republic of Seychelles,
Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the nationals of the Vatican.
A visa to Tunisia is required by the nationals of the countries
which are not listed above. The documents needed for obtaining a visa to
Tunisia may vary depending on the country, the reasons for the stay in Tunisa
and the type of stay
There are two types of visa: the short term visa (for a stay of
less or equal to 3 months) and the long term stay visa for stays of more than 3
months and less than 6 months. A residency permit is required if the stay is
longer than 6 months.
There are two types of short term visa:
1. The transit visa
with which the passenger can enter Tunisia for a stay of less or equal to 7
days.
2. The tourist visa
allowing a 90 days stay in Tunisia.
The Tunisian consulate, in coordination with the Home Ministry,
delivers the visas to the foreigners.
Visa procedures:
The nationals who require a visa to enter Tunisia have to
contact the nearest consulate.
Here is a list of the documents required when applying for a
visa:
– A visa application
form.
– A picture.
– A copy of the first
pages of a valid passport.
– A duplex copy of a
valid stay document.
– A hotel reservation.
– A proof of insurance
(optional).
Specific cases:
The nationals of Australia in possession of an ordinary passport
can obtain their visa upon arrival at the Tunisian border checkpoint.
The nationals of the former USSR countries (except Armenia), the
nationals of Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia do not need visas to Tunisia
as long as they are travelling with an organized tour.
Here is the list of the countries whose nationals are able to
travel to Tunisia only with their identity card: France, Belgium, Austria,
Luxembourg, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden,
Denmark, Norway and Switzerland. The nationals of these countries must be
travelling with an organized tour in order to enter Tunisia only with their
identity card.
The traveller must have a document (a voucher) proving his stay
at a Tunisian hotel and a return ticket.
The nationals of the countries listed below need a visa to enter
Tunisia: Afghanistan, South Africa, Albania, Angola, Argentina, Australia,
Bangladesh, Benin, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape
verde, China, Cyprus, Colombia, Congo, Costa Rica, Hungary, India, Indonesia,
Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lesotho, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mexico, Mongolia,
Nepal, Nigeria, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines,
Poland, Syria, Central African Republic, Republic of Korea (for a stay of
more than 30 days), United Republic of Tanzania, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe,
Sierra Leone, Singapore, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Chad, Thailand, Togo, Uruguay,
Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe
and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
