Fearless and Transformative Cities: Housing Stories from the Ground

The right to housing is under attack. Alarming levels of homelessness, forced evictions, unaffordable homes―we need long-term solutions to the global housing crisis. As Leilani Farha, former UN Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, argues:

“Due to the unprecedented nature of the crisis, tinkering around the edges of an unsustainable model of economic development will not work. The right to housing must be implemented in a manner that shifts the way housing is currently conceived, valued, produced and regulated.“

What can transformative and sustainable alternatives in the housing sector look like? To discuss this, we bring together four finalists and winners of the Transformative Cities People‘s Choice Award―from Brazil to Ireland―at the Fearless Cities Conference for a discussion moderated by Adriana Allen, president of the Habitat International Coalition.

Transformative Cities is an opportunity for progressive local governments, municipalist coalitions, social movements and civil society organizations to popularize and share their experiences of building solutions to our planet’s systemic economic, social, political and  ecological crises.
