GOLD is the Global Observatory on Local Democracy and Decentralizationcreated in 2006 by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). The GOLD initiative and report are a major source of information on local self-government, local authorities and international solidarity. The GOLD VI report looks at Pathways to Urban and Territorial Equality. It focuses on local transformation strategies under six broad pathways: Commoning and Solidarity; Caring; Connecting; Re-Naturing; Prospering; and Democratising.

HIC has been invited to contribute practice-based case studies to the GOLD VI report that relate to these six pathways.

The purpose of our call on Monday is to share details about the GOLD VI process and how you can participate. This will include jointly discussing:
  • HIC’s interest and expectations in relation to the report process
  • Which of the six pathways HIC wants to contribute to
  • HIC’s key messages relating to urban and territorial equality
  • Potential cases (aligned with the pathways) that HIC wants to contribute
If you have a potential case in mind please prepare the following to share on Monday:
  • Name of the case
  • Location (city, region, country)
  • Which of the theme(s) does the case best demonstrate? (See attachment for details)
  • A short description of the case and its relevance in relation to urban and territorial equality
