Lorena Zarate
discusses housing and homelessness reform in Latin America as well as its
relevance and applicability to Canadian urban reform; Zarate will explore
lessons learned and best practices from the international movement that can be
adopted domestically.

Lorena Zarate is the
President for Habitat International Coalition (HIC) in Mexico City. Her work
includes collaborations with Fomento Solidario de la Vivienda (FOSOVI) and
other organizations of Mexico Habitat Coalition (CHM). Her experience
includes work with the Centre for Environmental Studies and Projects
Foundation, the Latin American Forum for Environmental Studies- UNESCO Chair on
Sustainable Development and the journal Environment.

The Habitat
International Coalition (HIC) 
is the global network for
rights related to habitat. Through solidarity, networking and support for
social movements and organizations, HIC struggles for social justice, gender
equality, and environmental sustainability, and works in the defence, promotion
and realization of human rights related to housing and land in both rural and
urban areas.
