New HLRN Representatives to HIC Board

HIC

We are extremely pleased to announce the election of Mr. Alejandro Florian Borbón and Mrs. Alicia Gentolia-Murphy as HLRN’s new representatives to the HIC Board.

Alejandro Florian Borbón, a lawyer by profession, comes to us with many years of Public Law experience in habitat and the right to housing issues.  He has been part of the Federación Nacional de Organizaciones de Vivienda Popular (FEDEVIVIENDA) team since 1984, sitting as Executive Director from 1992 until 2009.  In addition to his continued work as a consultant on programs and strategic planning for FEDEVIVIENDA, Alejandro also teaches Urban Rights at the Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia).

Our Board alternate, Alicia Gentolia-Murphy, is a practitioner of community organization and has spent the last 21 years assisting urban people in dialogue towards achievable local solutions.  Her achievements are evident in her leadership in helping to organize the largest urban poor people’s organization in the Philippines, SAMA-SAMA, in its attempts to provide the poor with land tenure security through manageable leasing programs and land allocation, improving women’s roles and leadership opportunities, and setting up income-generating projects.

We congratulate them and wish them luck in their tenure on the HIC Board!
