SUBJECT: Publication of list of candidates

Dear Friends of Habitat International Coalition (HIC),
Receive the warm regards of Electoral Committee (EC) members.
With the purpose of ensuring a democratic and transparent process, as extensive and plural as possible, the Electoral Committee has deliberated and agreed upon a new modification to the chronogram of the electoral process, extending the deadline for nomination of candidates by one day (July 1st instead of June 30th 2011).
According to the requirements of the HIC Presidential and Board Election and Representation By-law (2008) and of the President Elections New Timetable (06-15-2011) with a deadline extension until July 1st, 2011, after a careful analysis and validation of the nominations received by HIC members with the right to nominate, we are glad to provide the list of candidates for the position of HIC President:
- Mr. Davinder Lamba of Mazingira Institute (Anglophone Africa region)
- Ms. Lorena Zárate of FOSOVI (Latin America and Caribbean region)
Both candidates will provide the EC the required documentation before July 31st 2011 and will campaign between August 1st and 31st 2011.
We invite HIC members to renew their membership before August 24th, 2011 in order to get the right to vote before August 24th and to check frequently the Election blog on: http://president2011.hic-net.org/ which will include all the relevant information about the candidates; please keep on posting comments directly at the bottom of any page in the blog.
