Opening of the exposition and podium From the 27th of May to the 26 June, the street art works will be exhibited at the Ziegel oh Lac/Rote Fabrik in Zurich, which have been handed in to the urban.lab in the context of the street art competition «Design Your City» organised by the Rote Fabrik and the urban.lab. The exhibition will be opened by a podium under the title “Street art – in between political underground and artistic mainstrean”. The moving of street art to a exposition can be seen through a critical lense. More and more museums and art lovers discover street art and in this way help to merchandise an art, that has been created as a critique of the same process – these days enormous sums are paid for an oeuvre of e.g. Bansky. From subculture to the mainstream? What stance do curators and street artists take up on this phenomenon? Guests and the public will discuss these questions and the character of street art (vandalism? politics? communication? or art?) today at the Rote Fabrik. From the 7th of February to the 11th of May street artists handed in around 50 works, from which the jury – Philipp Meier (Cabaret Voltaire), Sønke Gau (Shedhalle), Esther Eppstein (Message Salon) have chosen a winner. The street art works can be looked here
Vernissage: 19:00, Podium: 20:00, followed by a musical program
At the end of the podium the winner of the street art contest will be awarded a prize.
