Solidarité avec les co-maires de Diyarbakır et appel au respect de la démocratie locale en Turquie
Le 20 juin prochain, le procès contre Gültan Kışanak, co-maire de notre ville membre de Diyarbakır, se déroulera dans un contexte d’état d’urgence en Turquie. Selon le Congrès des Pouvoirs Locaux et Régionaux et le Haut-Commissariat des Nations unies aux droits de l’homme, cette détention est contraire aux normes relatives aux droits humains contenus dans les traités internationaux ratifiés par la Turquie, tels que la Convention européenne de sauvegarde des droits de l’homme et des libertés fondamentales ou la Charte européenne de l’autonomie locale. En relation avec ces organisations, la Commission Inclusion Sociale, Démocratie Participative et Droits Humains de CGLU donne suite à la situation des co-maires de Diyarbakır et des représentants publics arrêtés, en invitant les gouvernements locaux et les partenaires à se joindre à une mobilisation commune appelant à protéger la démocratie locale en Turquie.
Solidarity with Diyarbakır’s arrested co-Mayors and call to respect local democracy in Turkey
Next 20 June, the trial against the arrested Co-Mayor of our member city of Diyarbakır, Gültan Kışanak, will take place under a context of state of emergency in Turkey. According to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, her detention is contrary to human rights standards set forth in international treaties ratified by Turkey, such as the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms or the European Charter of Local Self-Government. In relation with these organizations, the UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights gives a follow up of the situation of the Diyarbakır Co-Mayors and other arrested public officials and representatives, inviting local governments and partners to join a common mobilization calling to safeguard local democracy in Turkey.
