With sparkling wine, balloons and party-music “apartment-seekers” are taking part at public flat viewings of luxury aparments. Therewith the activist of the fat rent parties are calling attention to rising rents in Zurich; they are demanding measures against the shortage of affordable housing from the red-green city government and mayor Elmar Ledergerber, and more social reponsibility from the landlords.
The action of the “urban.lab” – by the way: a legal and peaceful act – is copying the example of the Parisian group “Jeudi-Noir”, who are having parties at public flat viewings since winter 2006/2007.
