Women and Housing Rights. A legal overview

HIC

The report first tries to understand what is right to adequate housing and the international mechanisms that recognise, promote and protect this right, particularly in the case of women. It then moves on to explore the situations that violate and deny people this basic human right and what makes women more vulnerable. An examination of the various laws and policies that have a bearing on women’s right to adequate housing follows thereafter, interspersed with case-studies as mentioned earlier.

The report is part of a larger initiative on Housing and Land Rights in South Asia, undertaken by the Habitat International Coaliton’s Housing Rights Committee.
